An Award-Winning, Women-Owned & Operated Law Firm
The Geller Law Group is proud to announce that two attorneys have been recognized by Virginia Lawyers Weekly Class of 2023 — Partner, Family Law Practice Chair and Pro Bono Practice Chair Stephanie Sauer has been named a “Leader in the Law,” and Family Law Associate Veronica Holmes has been named an “Up & Coming Lawyer.”
Stephanie Sauers’s journey from an associate at Legal Aid of Hampton Roads to her current position as Partner and Chair of our Family Law Practice + Pro Bono Practice Chair showcases a career devoted to using law as a tool for social justice. Her dedication and exceptional work have earned her the title of “Leader in the Law” in this year’s Virginia Lawyers Weekly awards.
As Chair of the Family Law Practice, Stephanie has shown an unwavering commitment to her clients. But, her dedication to giving doesn’t stop there. In 2022, she assumed the role of Pro Bono Chair and successfully increased pro bono participation at GLG by an astonishing 1440% within just a year! Her efforts have ensured reliable legal assistance to organizations such as the Legal Aid, Fairfax Law Foundation, DC Diaper Bank, Homeward Trails, and the Center for Business Partnership.
Stephanie’s leadership, mentorship, and contribution to improving the justice system truly set the standard for other attorneys across Virginia’s legal community.
According to Virginia Lawyer’s Weekly: “Leaders in the Law” is an annual award that celebrates lawyers setting the standard for other lawyers. Leaders’ accomplishments include outstanding contributions to the practice of law in the commonwealth, significant achievements through the practice of law, leadership in improving the justice system, acting as role models and mentors, and making essential contributions to Virginia’s legal community and/or the community at large.”
The “Up & Coming Lawyers” award recognizes attorneys who have excelled in their first 10 years of practice, indicating that these individuals are well on their way to becoming the leaders of the future. We are thrilled that Veronica Holmes has earned this distinction.
Veronica Holmes’s dedication to her clients is boundless; she’s always seeking creative solutions for their changing families. Her commitment to community service is unwavering, distinguishing her as a formidable advocate for social justice.
Prior to joining GLG, Veronica served as Legislative Counsel at the Council of the District of Columbia, where she helped introduce comprehensive legislation to support detained youth. She now generously contributes her time and talents to the Christian Legal Aid of the District of Columbia’s Saturday clinics, where they help low-income residents with landlord-tenant, estate and probate, record sealing, and social security and disability matters. She also regularly volunteers at GLG’s community service projects and supports the firm’s pro bono efforts.
Veronica recently was invited as a guest speaker to teach a class of students at Howard University’s School of Social Work about the intersection of social work and family law.
Stephanie and Veronica exemplify the essence of GLG — dedicated, passionate, and committed to serving our community. As we celebrate their recognition by Virginia Lawyers Weekly, we are inspired by their tireless work and honored to have them as part of our team.
