smunson@thegellerlawgroup.comSophia Munson is Of Counsel at The Geller Law Group and a member of the firm’s Estate Planning Group. She is dedicated to collaborating with her clients to develop the right estate documents for them and their loved ones. As the daughter of a Foreign Service Officer, Sophia grew up living in many different parts of the world, and her favorite pastime has always been meeting new people and learning their stories, so estate planning became a natural fit. Sophia enjoys working directly with individuals, talking through their concerns and goals, and advising them on the best options to plan for the unexpected. She is experienced at working with clients with diverse backgrounds, family compositions, and asset levels.
Sophia is particularly passionate about assisting clients with a family member with special needs or mental health concerns. She recognizes the importance of planning to preserve government benefits while also providing care for a beneficiary, and can help clients identify the optimal method to accomplish these goals, whether through a revocable or irrevocable special needs trust, pooled special needs trust, or lifetime trust.
In her spare time, Sophia is busy chasing around her two young children. She lives with her husband in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and enjoys playing outside with her children, singing the soundtrack to Frozen, cooking spaghetti, destroying the kitchen with her kids’ art projects, and putting off laundry for as long as possible.
Prior to joining The Geller Law Group, Sophia’s diverse background included working for a cultural heritage law firm, a large corporate law firm, a hedge fund and an international consulting group. Through it all, Sophia’s primary interest has remained the same—for her, it has always been about the people.
