An Award-Winning, Women-Owned & Operated Law Firm
Shabnam “Shaby” Aryana is an accomplished attorney with more than 20 years of experience helping individuals and families navigate complex legal challenges. She believes that effective representation requires not only strong legal advocacy, but also clear communication, practical guidance, and a genuine understanding of the issues clients face during difficult transitions. Her approach is rooted in building trust, providing thoughtful counsel, and helping clients make informed decisions about their future.
Before joining The Geller Law Group, Shaby served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Maryland, where she handled a wide range of complex cases and worked closely with law enforcement agencies, witnesses, and community members. Her extensive courtroom experience, strategic problem-solving abilities, and steady, thoughtful approach enable her to advocate effectively while remaining focused on her clients’ long-term objectives.
Earlier in her career, Shaby devoted her practice exclusively to family law, representing clients in matters involving divorce, child custody and visitation, child support, and spousal support. She successfully guided clients through both contested and uncontested matters, helping them navigate emotionally challenging circumstances with confidence and dignity.
This experience provided her with a deep appreciation for the personal and legal complexities families often face during periods of significant change.
After years of public service, Shaby returned to family law because she values the opportunity to work closely with clients and help them resolve issues that have a lasting impact on their families and futures. She is committed to finding practical, thoughtful solutions that protect her clients’ interests and provide a path forward.
Shaby earned her LL.M. in Trial Advocacy from Temple University James E. Beasley School of Law and her J.D. from New England School of Law. She is admitted to practice in Virginia, the District of Columbia, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts, and is fluent in Farsi.
Shaby resides in Washington, DC, with her husband and children. She enjoys spending time with her family and traveling.
