krubio@thegellerlawgroup.comKevin Rubio is an Associate in the Family Law Practice at The Geller Law Group. He represents clients in matters involving divorce, custody, visitation, child support, spousal support, and civil protection orders. Kevin brings a deep commitment to trauma-informed advocacy and a steady, supportive approach to helping clients navigate emotionally complex transitions.
Before joining GLG, Kevin served as a Supervising Attorney in Ayuda’s Domestic Violence/Family Law Program, representing low-income immigrant survivors across D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. In that role, he litigated protection orders and divorce, custody, and child support cases, mentored junior attorneys and interns, and collaborated closely with social services teams to ensure holistic client care. Kevin also contributed to public policy efforts as a member of the D.C. Crime Victims Compensation Advisory Commission, helping to advance resources and protections for survivors.
Kevin began his legal career at the South Carolina Department of Education’s Office of General Counsel, where he handled administrative and civil matters, monitored legislation affecting the agency, and supported mediation and due-process hearings. His interest in family law started in law school, where he served as a student attorney in the Domestic Violence Clinic and as a board member of the school’s Pro Bono Program, assisting Spanish-speaking clients and leading community outreach projects.
Originally from South Carolina, Kevin earned both his B.A. in History and Political Science and his J.D. from the University of South Carolina, where he received multiple academic honors. He is admitted to practice in South Carolina and Washington, D.C., and is a member of the D.C. Bar Family Law Community, the Washington Council of Lawyers, and the Hispanic Bar Association. He is also a native Spanish speaker.
