An Award-Winning, Women-Owned & Operated Law Firm

Anne Donohue is an Associate in the Family Law Practice at The Geller Law Group. She brings extensive litigation, appellate, and advocacy experience to her family law practice, drawing on a career that spans public service, federal appellate work, and private practice.

Anne’s practice focuses on divorce, custody, visitation, and related family law matters. She is known for her strong legal writing, thoughtful case analysis, and significant courtroom experience, which informs her approach to both litigation and strategic case development.

Before joining GLG, Anne practiced at a boutique family law firm in Loudoun County, where she handled divorce and custody litigation in Virginia courts. Prior to transitioning to private practice, Anne spent several years in public service. She worked for the U.S. Department of Justice in both the National Security Division and the Civil Division’s Office of Immigration Litigation, representing the Department in federal Circuit Courts of Appeal and advising on complex litigation, policy, and agency matters.

Earlier in her career, Anne served as a prosecutor in the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office in Massachusetts, where she briefed and argued cases at every level of the state courts and handled matters ranging from minor offenses to serious felony cases. She began her legal career clerking for the Massachusetts Superior Court and later for the Massachusetts Appeals Court, experiences that strengthened her foundation in legal analysis, writing, and judicial decision-making.

Anne is a member of the Loudoun County Bar Association, Fairfax County Bar Association, and the Virginia Women Attorneys’ Association, and she currently serves as an elected member of the Loudoun County School Board. She has contributed to the legal community through teaching, publishing, and mentoring, including serving as an adjunct professor at George Washington University and authoring legal scholarship published in both academic and professional journals.

Anne earned her J.D. from Cornell University School of Law, where her student note was selected for publication in the Cornell Journal of Law & Public Policy. She received her B.A., summa cum laude, with a double major in German and Classical Studies from Hollins University.

Anne lives in Loudoun County with her spouse, who is a baker, their two children, and a lively collection of pets, including dogs, cats, bunnies, and chickens. She enjoys reading, singing, teaching swimming at the local pool, playing softball, and coaching youth teams.
